Weather - The city of Cairo has a desert
climate, which makes the days very hot and the nights
become very cool. Another thing you should know is
that there are sandstorms that occur frequently in
the months on April and May. The wind is fierce and
the sand can sting your exposed skin. The mildest
temperatures occur during the winters and the best
months in Cairo are February and March. The average
temperature in the month of July is 82.2 degrees F
and in the month of January the average temperature
is 56.8 degrees F.
Bring lots of garments made of cotton to keep you
cool in the Desert Climate. Always
bring some form of jacket or outerwear for the evenings
and nights, which become cool. The City of
Cairo is Islamic and the people tend to cover
most of their body with garments. When visiting you
do not have to follow a strict dress code, but it
is advisable to dress conservatively in the city and
to dress modestly when visiting churches or mosques.
The women visitors are required to cover their hair
before entering mosques.
